DISABLE WINDOWS DEFENDER IN WINDOWS 10
Windows Defender is a built-in virus scanner in Windows 10. When your PC is completely up to date and running on Windows 10, Windows Defender is the built-in protection you can rely on. Do you want to disable Windows Defender for any reason? We are happy to tell you how you can do this!
What is Windows Defender?
Good antivirus software is extremely important when you regularly use your laptop or computer to surf the internet. The biggest advantage of Windows 10 is that you can automatically benefit from Windows Defender Antivirus. Windows Defender is Microsoft’s free built-in antivirus program. This means you are at all times protected against software threats such as viruses, malware and spyware. The Windows Defender Security Centre offers a number of different security options to help protect your PC. This allows you to use the internet, use all kinds of apps, the cloud and e-mail without any worries.
Disable Windows Defender
When you think about disabling Windows Defender, it’s important to know that your PC may be vulnerable to threats from that moment on. Therefore, make sure to provide your PC with another antivirus program as soon as possible when you have disabled Windows Defender. Are you prepared for this and are you aware of the risks? Then you can (temporarily) disable Windows Defender by following these steps:
- Click on “Start”
- Go to “Settings” and then to “Update and Security”
- Click on “Windows Security”
- Click on “Virus and threat protection”
- Open “Manage settings” or “Virus and threat protection settings”
- Disable the “Real-time protection”
Enable Windows Defender
Do you wish to (re-)enable the Windows Defender at any time in the future? Then, follow the steps above, but enable the “real-time protection” in the last step. From that moment on, your PC is again protected against threats.
Upgrade to Windows 10
Are you currently using Windows 8 or any other version of the Microsoft operating system? But would you like to take advantage of the many benefits of Microsoft Defender? Then you’ll have to upgrade your PC to the latest version of Windows 10. When you have performed this upgrade, your PC will be immediately protected against viruses, malware, spyware and more. In addition, after the upgrade you can always choose whether you want to disable the Windows Defender or not.
Alternatives for Windows Defender
We’ve just briefly mentioned it, but good antivirus software is essential in protecting your PC from infections. Therefore, many people wonder whether using only Windows Defender is sufficient. To be 100% sure that your PC is well protected, you can also choose to work with other security software. An alternative to Windows Defender is, for example, ESET internet security or Bitdefender. Both security software systems use intelligent methods to protect your data, privacy and files. In addition, with both of these licenses you also benefit from the fact that you can protect multiple devices against online threats.
